ABOUT
Degrees / Training / Special Info:

I first studied guitar  at my local community college and most of my training comes from being on the road touring and playing with some of the greatest musicians in the world. In 2013 Jazz Guitarist George Benson endorsed my 5th album TRUE DREW. I’ve also been fortunate to have five Billboard chart topping singles.

Awards:

2009- 2016 I have realized 5 records and scored 5 billboard charting singles in contemporary jazz/blues guitar.

2009- Voted Top 10 Hottest Newest Guitarist; Guitar Player Magazines Readers Poll.

2011-2014 Endorsing artist for Carvin Guitars.

2017- I released my debut singer/songwriter pop/ac/rock album "A Good Life. In three weeks my new single "Out of the Blue" charted at #1 on the European Top 200 Independent charts! This album features 8 songs I wrote in the style of the Beatles meet John Mayer/Maroon 5. Lots of taste guitar work.

Overview:

I've been playing music my whole life. My father is my biggest inspiration. I started my training at Peabody when I was 5 years old in their music exploratory program. Next I studied cello for many years. When I was a teenager about 13 I started trying to hold my cello sideways and that's hone my father bought me an electric bass. In the NAVY I picked up the guitar and I've been professionally playing for over 25 years. I've won numerous awards in closing being nominated for an American Smooth Jazz Award. I've also charted on Billboard many times with my own music. In between touring i've always taught lesson and even run music camps for kids... I love helping others have a light bulb moment and discover something new on their instrument.

EXPERIENCE

I've been teaching in one form or another for over 20 years. I ahem also had some really fun mentor relationships as well. One in particular in Mt. Juliet TN. A young man I met at age 10 and is now 21 years old. He had released three records since we first met. I'm very proud of Zach.

I've played guitar on over 30 recordings and played over 1,000 shows/concerts. I've charted on the Billboard Chart and my current pop/rock single is #1 in Europe and U.K. on the Euro Indie Top 200!

I love bringing the best out of every student. It's my pleasure and honor to teach someone guitar. Let's get started now!!

METHODS USED

I start all beginners with the Mel Bay guitar method. That's how I started. From there we create what works for them. I'm also learning as I teach and creating each lesson newly. I like to keep the lessons fresh and exciting too. Finding fun ways to practice the modes and scales. After each lesson we want to measure our growth and our progress.

I also love seeing my students play live too. So if you're in a band feel free to invite me to see your band and I'll do my best to attend.

And if you want to write songs... I'm your man. I sing as well so we can work on putting these to together.

LESSON STYLE

Here is the basic premise of my teaching style. First I want to know what YOU want to learn. The first thing we do is look at what you already know. This builds self confidence.

For a beginner- I teach both chords and scales. Single note playing and basic music theory.

For other levels it's really the same structure. I am committed to you learning the kind and style of music you want to learn. Weather that's jazz, blues, pop, rock, or acoustic guitar. Styles like John Mayor, Carlos Santana, Stevie Ray, George Benson, Larry Carlton, Leet Ritenour, Ed Sheeran, etc... So many great players out there.

I teach composition for those who desire to write their own songs too.

I also teach improvisation and advanced soloing techniques... I love doing this!!!

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
