MM, New Jersey City University, Multiple Woodwind Performance BMus, University of Calgary, Secondary School Music
2011- Graduate Assistantship
2006- Dean of Fine Arts Graduation Award
I am a professional musician originally from Calgary, Canada. Four years ago I moved to the United States to attend graduate school in the specialized field of multiple woodwind performance.
My professional experience includes regular broadway sub work (Pippin and Honeymoon in Vegas), at Radio City Music Hall and with the New York City Ballet Orchestra. I have over ten years of teaching experience at the university level as a teaching assistant, at the conservatory as an instructor (Conservatory at Mount Royal University in Canada) and also privately.
Depending on ability level and goals teaching materials will be selected from standard étude books, repertoire and studies. Focus will also be given to aural learning and learning melodies and rhythms by ear.
My teaching style will vary from student to student based on his/her and the parents goals. Deep understanding of concepts will be emphasized before moving on to the next concept. An important aspect of my teaching is for the student to become a "mindful learner" and develop an awareness of what is being practiced.
