I am a motivated instructor who loves working with students and sharing my passion for music. I studied at The Center of Music, in Virginia Beach, Va. Playing the piano has been one the most fulfilling accomplishments of my life. I've had the opportunity to work with song writers and compose music for them and accompany singers during their performances. Music is a gift that I love sharing with my students and my goal is to help my students meet their musical goals, one lesson at a time.
My teaching experience began at age eighteen, when I started teaching private lessons part time until I figured out what I wanted to do with my life. I've taught at piano retail establishments, in home and currently I'm teaching in my own studio. I'm a recording artist, singer and composer. I've performed at weddings, graduations, multiple dinner dates and church functions. I was the Minister of Music at Sixth Street Baptist Church from 2016-2018. And I'm currently the in-house pianist at NY/LA Music in Virginia Beach.
After carefully assessing each of my students, and determining whether or not he or she are beginners, intermediate or advanced, I start them in the lesson book that is according to the level they are at. I teach from Alfred's Piano Course, but if my student has a piano book already, it is not a problem to teach from that series. Once my student has progressed and has a strong understanding of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire for their recitals and personal interest.
Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, its important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. This is encouraged by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. And realistic practice time at home. By acknowledging their accomplishments, the students desire to progress grows immensely, making students eager to learn more. Learning what inspires the student allows me to give them a customized piano session that fits their wants and needs
