Overview:
I am very serious about making music easy and fun to learn. I have different techniques to ensure learning. I’m a good listener and I love to learn also. I’m familiar with all different types of guitars and I would love to build my own instrument one day. I studied classical music in high school under a former professional conductor who taught me many things about the fundamentals of music. That’s where the gold is in my opinion. I’ve performed with many bands and have written many original songs. I have worked with Grammy award winning musicians and producers.

EXPERIENCE
My teaching experience started in musical theatre as a writer when I was 17. I was the bassist in an original production. My more recent experience has been as an educational artist for Alliance Theatre in Atlanta, Ga. I’ve had private students from all ages and ethnic backgrounds. The awesome thing about teaching music is that no matter what language one may speak we all can communicate through music. I feel that music is my strongest form of communication and bringing people together. I’m looking forward to teaching my style of learning as I’m a professional student of music myself.

METHODS USED

I’m a great listener as I pointed out earlier. My musical strength has always been my ear. I’ve learned all major and minor scales with arpeggios through schooling and that’s great knowledge to have. I focus my teaching technique on scales and arpeggios to show that music heavily comprises of these fundamental elements. But I also teach students who want to learn by ear training and I teach students how to tune the instruments which is a major skill to have. My method is very straight forward and if the students implement the knowledge they will be successful.

LESSON STYLE

My teaching style is customized to the individual. Once I gain knowledge of what the student is strong or weak on, I motivate them to work on those areas. I’m very easy to get along with and I like a fun learning environment where everyone is comfortable. I build confidence and I also point out where the student needs to improve. Depending on the students ambition and assertiveness, I take it up or turn it down! I believe that in teaching I also can learn by recognizing what the student is interested in on the bass guitar.
