I am a dedicated musician and singer-songwriter that enjoys sharing what I've learned over the years. I have been playing guitar and writing songs for 10 years, and have had the privilege of playing some amazing venues, including the historic Cheyenne Saloon in Orlando. I also enjoy singing, playing piano, bass, and music production. This year I graduated with a degree in Recording Arts and Show Production and was name Salutatorian of my graduating class. I currently enjoy making music in my band, doing freelance audio work, and helping out at the Timucua Arts Foundation from time to time.
My joy for teaching came simply from teaching friends and family how to play, and quickly seeing them grow and discover themselves as a musician. My musical style began with rock n roll, and has adopted a little bit of everything over the years, from jazz to folk and electronic, and everything in between. I learned music by ear, and when I got to a point where I felt I had my own style, I learned music theory to fill in the gaps and become more well rounded. Through years of practice I gained the courage to perform my songs, and have enjoyed showcasing my work throughout the Central Florida area.
With every student, no matter the age, I like to get an idea of their goals intended, or help them develop goals along the way. Everyone wants to play music for different reasons, and I like to keep that in mind for each student. However, regardless of the goal, my philosophy is to empower each student to discover their sound and voice on their instrument. Of course, we will still go over the fundamentals and essential "building blocks" of music, but also develop musical personality in the process.
While I aim to help students become their best, I ultimately want them to have fun above all else. I believe progress looks different for everyone, and I am very patient and happy to go over something more than once. Learning an instrument is more of a marathon than a sprint in my eyes, and I hope to guide each student on their own musical path. Lessons can range anywhere from simply learning about the instrument itself, going over foundational music theory(notes,chords,scales,intervals, and so on), learning site reading and tablature and the benefits of both. We will apply techniques to song work, both original and popular music. Lessons can even be performance focused, to get students ready for a recital or up coming gig.
