Overview:

I'm an open-minded thinker(also left-handed) and creative(Producer, Artist, Musician) who seeks to inspire those to who want to experience the joy of creating a life-long connection with themselves through self-expressionistic ways in the form of Art. I have been playing music since I was in middle school and was inspired by those who taught me and will forever be thankful for those who devoted themselves to teaching and seek to do the same. Through the years of being a performer, I've gained life experiences such as playing for the radio station back in my home state of texas as well as winning several talent shows with my original work. In recent years, I've gone to the University of Texas at SA, where I majored in Music Composition and minored in Music Production. Due to the outbreak of covid-19 many life changes have occurred and I had to put a pause on finishing my degree, but I continue to seek in teaching others what I've learned through my own accomplishments as a performing artist. At the moment I'm currently forming a Band Duo called Ozark Odyssey where my band member and I are creating music in the likes of Pink Floyd, America, David Bowie, and many others. Being an artist gives me the freedom to create whatever I want to bring into the universe with my mind. With this in mind, I also compose for films and video games in my free time for other artists and create songs as a ghostwriter.

EXPERIENCE

As I mentioned before I'm In between colleges and looking to teach from my 11+ years of performing and writing my own music. I play saxophone, guitar, bass, drums, voice, and piano. I've also been producing/composing music for 3-4 years now as an artist as I know how to use Ableton LIVE, FL studio, Protools, and Notation software from teaching myself before college and combined with what I learned in college. Since I work with all kinds of artists I take an interest in many genres of music and can play from classical to jazz improv and sheet music. I've studied music theory and use it in my process of writing daily in my workflow. I encourage students to learn theory as I do offer a bit of theory in every lesson as it gives a student more thinking tools to use in music. As a performer, I always encourage students to write their own music and enter competitions and or open mics as I've had a lot of experience in participating in them and can offer a great deal of advance as I continue to look for those opportunities. I also offer to help students with personal projects as I have artist experience in creating songs from the ground up and publishing them on streaming sites to share my art with others. I've had a little bit of classroom teaching experience recently this summer at CAMP MED-O-LARK, which is a world-renowned arts camp with a history that has changed the world. This summer I worked there as a guidance consular and music studio instructor, where I worked with children from ages 9-16. I've also have provided private lessons for the last 3 years to family and friends.

METHODS USED

To keep the student engaged in a lesson I always start with what the student wants to do first for about half of the lesson then stitch half way through to a professional lesson format to ensure progress is retained and homework is given at the end. The second half of the lesson would also be a performing part of the lesson(solo repertoire or improv) and the prior part would be warm-up time. I like using all kinds of inspirational material such as listening to reference tracks of music that the student is interested in; to provide a more personalized experience in discovering what their sound is. This also includes doing art projects(such as painting and drawing) as I believe visuals are just as important to inspiring creativity as sound is. If the student does not know what they would like to do for the first part of the lesson I typically set multiple instruments around my studio and connect them to amps and start improving or playing something and have the student join in on the jam and then move onto having them take our over and then we go from there. If the student is all play and fun or is all work, I adapt to whatever they feel within themselves and follow that. If a parent is forcing a child to learn without them enjoying it I will notice and will always find a way to create a middle ground as I can offer many different forms of exploration towards a skill. In other words, I recommend allowing your child to choose what they wanna learn and trust the process as I believe if someone truly enjoys something and is passnate about they will show sufficient improvement overall in music and in life.

LESSON STYLE

Music is a journey and has provided a sense of purpose in my life by allowing me to help others find their way within its infinite potential to impact society and oneself awareness. With that said, I typically let the student set their own pace and tune into their thought process to understand them enough to offer a set of approaches to learning. Whether the lesson will start with jamming over popular songs or listening in on an original by the student; I feel that creating a freestyle/open studio environment with the ability to diversify their talents into different areas is true to what makes music what it is. In other terms, I will teach multiple instruments to a student within a lesson if they so choose to(with keeping progress in mind). I call this method "Teaching one to be an Artist through self-discovery". With my background in live performances and multi-instrumental skills, I can offer a unique and liberating experience for a student who truly wants to dive deep into what music has to offer as a whole. And the end of the lesson I will provide a set of goals drafted to the student and have created their own and continue to evolve and grow into whoever they wanna in the world of music.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
