Bachelor Degree , Master Degree in piano, theory of music in Russia.
2nd Place in Music competition in Russia, 1991.
I started taking piano lessons at age of five and already knew that it would be my career’s path. I always loved everything that related to music: dancing, composing, and singing in a school choir. I participated in many recitals, competitions winning some prizes, so it became clear I could not see my life without music. I enjoyed playing many different types of concerts in Russia getting the best experience as a piano player. I earned my Bachelor and Master Degree in piano and theory of music in Russia. I currently teach private piano lessons in my studio in Lutz, Florida.
I have experience of teaching children and adults for over 30 years and have worked with students in Russia, Canada and USA. My teaching experience started in 1984 in Russia, when I was a college student. Those days I worked part time at music school. Then I taught private lessons in Vancouver, Canada for 6 years. I have been teaching lessons in my home studio in Lutz, Florida since 2009. I love to encourage my students to learn how to play many different genres to have a clear idea that music is endless and they always can find music pieces that they really enjoy playing.
For young beginners I usually start with William Monell 's Piano For The Small Fry, John Thompson's Teaching Little Fingers To Play and John W. Schaum's Piano Course Pre A- The Green Book. Within couple months my little musicians are ready for their first recital. For continuing students I teach in my own Russian style using several books such as Alfred's Basic Piano Library, Alfred's Premier Piano Course, Faber's Adventure series and many other books. My students always choose the musical piece that they really like to play. But I encourage them to explore many different styles of music.
I am teaching different styles of music: classical, pop, rock, jazz and encouraging my students not only play well, but also develop their passion for music and art in general. I am singing with my students for 3-5 minutes each lesson which help them to hear music in a better way. My little players really love it. After each recital all my students go to the stage and sing and I reward them with different types of chocolate. I offer 2-4 recitals (musical performance) during the school year because I love seeing my students excel and get the most out of their experience. Recitals are also one of the best ways for students to grow their skills as a musician, maintain interest and good practicing habits.
