I have always had a deep appreciation, understanding and desire to spread and teach my passion for music. I started playing classical piano when I was 7 years old. In 2004 I graduated from Fairfield University with a business degree. I have had the honor of performing at Carnegie Hall in Manhattan and music venues all over the world. One of my most memorable experiences was playing along side Robbie Krieger of, "The Doors," at the Whisky A Go Go in West Hollywood. I frequently played along the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles from the Viper Room, The Roxy and The Key Club, all the way Downtown to the Staples Center and many in between. Here in Atlanta I have had the opportunity to open up for many iconic music artists at the, "One Music Festiva,"l at Aarons Amphitheatre.
My first teaching experience dates back to 2004. I started teaching at the Kathryn Brickell School for Music. on Long Island, NY. Since then, in between recording and touring, I have never stopped. Having clear set goals and a gameplan to achieve it is what I emphasize most for students at any age. This lets my students have a better gauge of where they are and where they want to go in their musical studies. Also, it holds them more accountable to reach their short, mid and long term goals that we have set together. Tailored and customized to each indivisdual student, I want to teach what my students wat to learn that way they have as much fun as possible aling the way!
For beginners, on piano I def reccomend Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Also, "My Favorite Solo Album," by Max Eckstein. Once progression and consistency has been developed I always encourage my students to share what they have learned in to a recital performance. I always make sure to teach what the student is interested in no matter what their ability is because with practice and a good student mentality my tudents achieve their goals quicker than usual.
Setting S.M.A.C. goals for my students is very important. These are specific, measurable, achievable and challenging. Nothing makes me feel more accomplished as when I help my student feel accomplished and reach their goals. I have a very non critical approach and encourage mistakes with a non judgemental attitude. I feel this lightens up the atmosphere and allows the student to grow at a much more rapid rate.
