Overview:
I teach piano, voice, oboe, saxophone and music theory. Teaching has been my passion since the day I realized that I can make a difference in one's life. We all can be part of the good chance.
I am a Berklee College of Music & Istanbul University State Conservatory alumni. I studied classical oboe and piano at Istanbul University State Conservatory and jazz piano, oboe and voice at Berklee College of Music. I have received many awards during my studies and I have had the chance to perform all over the world.
EXPERIENCE
I have been teaching over 8 years. I had the privilege to teach at a very young age at my teachers’ request. I tutored students who needed extra help, or had failed their exams. I taught oboe, piano, solfege, harmony and ear training. At the time, I didn’t know how much responsibility I was taking on. But, after seeing all of them pass, I realized I could do more than help them succeed in one class. I realized that teaching is not only imparting knowledge in one topic; it is giving everything that you have.
METHODS USED
Over the years, I have come to understand that each individual has a different path to follow. Teaching in one specific way could help one student, but that same way could hamper another. For that reason, I create my teaching material after meeting my students. Although I have a lesson plan that includes the fundamentals of music, I adjust the way I teach the material in response to my students needs, interests and temperaments.
I strive to create a special connection with my students, to support and encourage them, while still challenging them. While I bring training and information to them, learning is a mutual experience and a life-long endeavor.
