Grade 6 Trinity Rock & Pop Guitar (passed with merit)
Hi! I am an English-born and newly moved California resident with dreams to teach music and help people find their own passion for music! I am excited to grow in connections with people and to show people the beauty of guitar and the tools to improve and become better each day, feeling pride for their achievements. I am excited to become more and more involved with music, with dreams of becoming a producer and teaching as many people as possible! I am very excited to start this next step in guitar teaching.
I am new to teaching guitar, with hopes to grow in connections and teach more and more people in efforts to help them reach their full musical potential! I have students whom I've taught as an un-contracted teacher, paid and unpaid, teaching scales and theory to help grow understanding and set my students up to be able to improve by themselves even when I'm not there to help! I also have experience tutoring children, which requires similar skills to be able to make lessons engaging and exciting for the child.
I will always start by assisting the Students ability and music knowledge, with some basic exercises and questions to warm up. I will spend the majority of the lesson introducing scales and melodies that the child can play in and out of lessons. I usually include improvisation exercises to allow the Student to be creative and to see what style they lean towards when they play, which in turn gives me insight into what the child enjoys and can teach them more around their creative style. My main priority is ensuring the child has fun and wants to progress on their own merit!
I love seeing my Students enjoy what they do and feel proud of themselves in their musical journey! I see a successful lesson being the child has enjoyed themselves and WANTS to practice and improve - which in turn allows the Student to progress quicker and find their "sound" - I will always be adapting my teaching style depending on how engaged the Student is - whether that be theory learning or playability practice games, I am always happy to change the lesson plan if I feel it will better the Student in the long term.
