I have been teaching private lessons for over 10 years. My own musical education has given me an expansive instructional set that is ever-growing. My passion for teaching music is nourished every day by my relationships with my colleagues, teachers, and students. My goal is to help you nourish your passion for music as well and to develop your musical skills. My experience as an instrumentalist and vocalist offer a unique perspective that I have found to benefit my students. I design our lessons around YOU. Whatever your goals are, whether it be competition, contest, fun, or leisure, my job is to help you fulfill that goal. I am constantly learning alongside you to become an even better teacher than I was yesterday.

Trumpet: for beginners, I typically utilize the methods book in which the student is using in their beginning band class. If the student is not enrolled in band at a public school, I typically use a combination of materials. Focus on fundamentals at the beginner level is essential for musical proficiency. Beyond fundamentals, I always aim to include something fun that the student has a drive to learn. For intermediate trumpet students, I will first assess the student’s goals. This might include taking a solo to contest, performing a recital, working on marching band or concert band music, or any other musical outlet. Based on the desires of the student, I can tailor my lessons to suite them personally. Guitar: for beginners, I typically turn to Mel Bay’s Method books. Once fundamentals are established, I want to learn what styles, bands, and artists the student likes. This helps me figure out which techniques and skills the student might need to know first in order to learn to play the music they enjoy.
