I am a dedicated and enthusiastic instructor who loves working with students and sharing my passion for music. I hold a Master of Music degree in Flute Performance from Northwestern University and a Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance from the New England Conservatory. I've had the privilege of performing as Principal Flute with the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra and collaborating with various ensembles across the United States. My goal is to inspire young musicians and help them build confidence and skills through personalized and engaging instruction.
My teaching experience began during my college years, and I have been teaching private music lessons for over seven years across various cities, including Seattle, Boston, and Evanston. I focus on creating a personalized and supportive environment for each student, helping them develop a love for music while building their confidence and skills. I believe that incorporating a mix of classical pieces and contemporary music can greatly enhance students' enjoyment and motivation. In my lessons, I also emphasize the importance of consistent practice to help students achieve their goals and make meaningful progress. I encourage my students to participate in recitals, competitions, and even explore composing their own music to celebrate their achievements and inspire a lifelong passion for music.
For young beginners, I love incorporating fun activities and interactive methods to make learning engaging and enjoyable. I use creative exercises to introduce musical concepts and build a strong technical foundation while keeping the lessons playful and age-appropriate. As students progress, I introduce solo pieces that match their skill level, helping them prepare for their first recitals with confidence. For adult students, I take a more personalized approach, finding out their musical interests and tailoring lessons to keep them motivated—whether it's learning classical pieces, popular songs, or exploring improvisation. My goal is always to make lessons a fun and fulfilling experience for everyone!
I believe that teaching is a journey we take together, and there’s nothing more fulfilling than seeing a student light up with excitement as they discover their love for music. My approach is centered on creating a supportive and encouraging environment where each student can progress at their own pace. I set realistic, personalized goals that match their individual learning style and celebrate every achievement, no matter how small, to keep them motivated. I strive to connect with my students on a personal level, learning what excites and inspires them, and tailor my lessons to fit their interests and aspirations. Whether it's through engaging activities, exploring different genres, or guiding them in performance preparation, my aim is to make each lesson a positive and inspiring experience that builds their confidence and passion for music.
