Overview:
I am a guitar/bass instructor with 13 years of experience teaching. I teach all styles of music to all skill levels. I teach acoustic and electric guitar, for both lead and rhythm guitar styles. I have studied at Montgomery County Community College, Temple University, andI have also taken lessons from professors from the University of The Arts in Philadelphia, PA. I come from a family of musicians so I know how important the gift of music is. That's why I am so passionate about my lessons, and I make sure that my students are able to learn about music and enjoy the process of learning it. Music has gotten me to travel all over the world, and perform many different styles of music with great artists from many different backgrounds and for that I am thankful.
EXPERIENCE
I have taught guitar since I was 16 years old. I have taught private lessons and have also directed music ensembles such as a rock band summer camp. I teach students of all ages and all skill levels. I have taught everything from rock, blues, pop, classical, to jazz and beyond. I have performed, written, and recorded with artists and producers from Philadelphia, PA to Los Angeles, CA. That experience has given me a lot of knowledge in the music industry that I like to pass along to my students. I make sure that the student gets what they want out of their lessons and learns the music that they love to listen to. I also love sharing the music that I enjoy to students.
METHODS USED
I make sure that beginner students understand the instrument and start with the proper technique before they can develop bad habits. I try to pick a song or finger exercises for them each lesson as well as a few exercises where they can develop their reading skills. As a student becomes more comfortable with the instrument that is when we can get into more challenging pieces of music as well as different scales and exercises that will help them with their improvising as well as their overall understanding of music.
LESSON STYLE
I make sure that all of my students are getting what they want out of their lessons and the instrument that they are learning in general. My philosophy is that if a student isn't enjoying their lessons then I am not doing my job to the fullest potential. While they are learning the music they love, I make sure that they are gaining knowledge in music theory, as well as improving their technique and repertoire. That way they can perform different songs, and their progress can be heard. Nothing is more rewarding then seeing a student enjoy themselves and improve through their lessons. The skills that are learned through music lessons are gifts that stay with a student forever. I am proud to help students get to that point.
