My name is Ericka. I'm a piano teacher that have teaching piano for 13 years. I have BA Degree in music. I also a piano accompanist at daytime bible class at church.
My minor was Child Development in College.
I will be teaching students how to play Suzuki method music piano, scales, triads, arpeggios, sightreading and eartrainning . Students will also have an option to learn any type of music too.
I received a BA Degree in music at Columbia College back 2001. My Major was Music Education and my minor was Child Development . I also a piano accompanist at Tuesday morning bible class at my church Since 2015. I sings in the church choir for 23 years . I started learning how to play the piano at ages 7 and a half. I continue to studied music in grammar and in high school. I played in the Jazz band once in College and played the keyboard at the Jazz Summer Festival once 21 years ago. I played piano solo called ,” Hyde Park Music Teachers Recital ,”5 years ago. Oh I played in Christmas, Easter , Black history and graduations school programs when worked at Oak Dale Christian Academy and High learning Day Care as a Teacher Assistant.
My Teaching experience is I started out I was a music tutor in college back in 1994. I had two students 25 years ago. It was in their home. Back in 1999, my cliental increased up to 6 students but I went from house to house . That was rough.Back 2006, I taught in the home with my grandmother. I was also giving Piano lessons after school when I worked at Higher Learning Day care and I worked there for 6 years from 2002-2008. January 2007, that when I had my own business and my cliental surged up rapidly.
I teaches students ages 3 and up. Here are my teaching materials; I teach scales,Blue scales, triad, arpeggios, sight reading, diatonic, theory in music and Suzuki method music. Students will also have opportunity to choose the kind of music they love to to such as Jazz, R&B, Hiphop, Gospel music etc. Ages 5-7 students have the same opportunity too but It’s will be coming from ,” Teaching Little Fingers.” Teaching Little Fingers have variations types of music for children to choose to play . I also provides piano recitals and certificate award for students hardworking in music. I have been taking students on field trips that was music affiliation and my church picnic in the summer. They rolled on school buses.
My music curriculum Ages 3-4 1) sing along alphabet and music alphabet 2) learning notes with flash cards where is thump kin song 3) 15-20 min of piano lessons 4) music together 5) piano on the piano mat Ages5-7 1) fundamental of sight read such as learning how to read music through staff lines starting with middle C to middle G 2) Go over notes and time signatures through flash cards 3) piano lesson 4) Playing on the piano mat Ages 8+ 1) learning how to sign read. For beginners, I started out line and space names. 2) review music notes and counts From 2/4, 3/4, 4/4 and for intermediate and advanced, I go over how to count the notes in 6/8, 12/8, 3/8 3) Intervals 4) piano lesson
