I have been passionate about playing guitar since I was 17 and my love for music has grown over the years and expanded. I've had a lot of experience with improv blues and rock through taking classes with Berklee College of Music in 2014. My main focus right now is writing my own songs and also teaching my students to love guitar. I have played benefit concerts in the area as well as at cafes. One of my greatest accomplishments as a musician is receiving my degrees and being able to play in benefit concerts and teach children.
My teaching experience began with my passion for the guitar. I started teaching a few students early on when I first was learning how to play. I have since then taught students with disabilities and students of all ages. I have around 1 years of experience with teaching. I teach modern, rock, experimental, metal, blues and classical guitar as well as keyboard. I like to make learning fun for children so I let them pick a lot of the material they would like to learn on guitar or piano. I like to encourage my students to become comfortable with playing through different techniques.
For my first lessons I teach the notes of the guitar and some simple chords. I like to find out beforehand what the students are most interested in learning. Then I gather pieces from my students based on what they are interested in and teach them these pieces. I teach tabs and sheets music for guitar as well as different styles from rock to blues to classical. I also like to find out what they family is looking for the child to learn over time. Each week I introduce more material and eventually the student will become confident to play in front of others.
I like to find what they student is passionate about in music and start working towards honing the sound on the guitar. After the basics are learned we start creating the students very own style of the guitar depending on how they play and what genres of music they are trying to learn. This helps create a better musician. I like to encourage my students to play what they like because that is the only way they will enjoy the instrument. I like to mix a variety of methods together to create a unique teaching for my students with backgrounds in world music, American music and classical opponents.
