Invited to perform at Carnegie Hall 2020
I have been passionate about music since the tender age of five. I took years of private lessons from various instructors, and progressed at a rapid rate. By the age of thirteen, I was invited to perform a Carnegie Hall. With my love of music, I started to expand my tool belt as a multi instrumentalist. I enjoy teaching classical music because it provides a solid foundation for all other styles. If a student can master classical music, they’re equipped to tackle any genre of music. I encourage my students to participate in competitions and perform at local assisted living centers. Above all, I emphasize the importance of having fun with music! As Beethoven once said, "To play a wrong note is insignificant; to play without passion is inexcusable.”
Teaching is something I’m truly passionate about. Over the years, from Highschool, to now being in college, I’ve had the joy of working with students of all ages and skill levels, helping them discover their love for music. I focus on creating a fun, supportive environment where students can grow at their own pace, whether they’re beginners or more advanced. What I love most is seeing their confidence blossom as they improve. What I find most rewarding as a teacher is watching my students' confidence grow as they overcome challenges and improve their musical abilities. There's something so special about seeing a shy or unsure student gradually become more confident, whether they’re mastering a new skill, performing in front of others, or just feeling proud of their progress. It’s these moments of growth that make teaching truly meaningful for me.
I believe in making each lesson personal and fun. I pay close attention to how each student learns best. I start with the basics, building solid technique and gradually introducing more challenging pieces. I love incorporating short theory lessons as my students advance, and with my younger students, I play theory games so they can remember music being made fun! While I use traditional method books, such as Suzuki, I also incorporate pieces my students want to learn. (Example: Disney songs). I create custom lesson plans and exercises to fit each student’s needs. Performance is an important part of what I do, so I encourage my students to play in recitals or competitions, helping them build confidence and stage presence. Ultimately, I want my students to enjoy the journey and feel excited about their progress.
Every student learns differently and at their own speed, so I make it a priority to adjust my teaching style to fit my students individual needs. As a tactile learner myself, I tend to encourage each student to bring a pencil to their lessons, to mark their music in whatever way helps them, as well as colored pencils to highlight dynamics and articulation. This helps make these concepts visually engaging. I aim to tailor my lessons to each student’s specific goals and interests, ensuring they feel supported and excited about learning. Above all, I focus on creating a positive and encouraging environment, so students can build confidence as they progress.
