I love sharing the gift of music with students of all ages. In 2018, I graduated from Temple University with a Bachelor of Music degree in Flute Performance and Music History. Performing all over the world has been one of the greater experiences of my life as a musician, and I've had the opportunity to play throughout the U.S. and in several European countries such as Ireland, Italy, Austria, and more. I have taught students from ages 6 to 66 and I'm always looking to expand my studio to include a more diverse array of flutists.
I am an international performing artist, having toured throughout Europe and North America as an orchestral and solo musician at venues including the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, National Concert Hall of Ireland, and Palais Corbelli in Vienna, Austria. My recent engagements include working as principal flute with Lyric Opera Ireland as well as SinfoNua Orchestra. I am a founding member of the Pento Wind Quintet having played at the Kaleidoscope Chamber Festival and Blackwater Valley Festival. My recent chamber music performances also include Glasshouse, a Dublin based contemporary music ensemble.
I have a four-fold method system for teaching the flute based on tone, scales, etudes, and solo and orchestral repertoire. From the start I see the importance at learning and accomplishing the goal of learning a solo piece. Whether that is an absolutely beginning learning simple tunes, to collegiate level exam pieces. I take influence from many famous flute pedagogues including Moyse, Trevor Wye, Altes, and many others. I strive to include a blended mix of styles and eras of music as well as influences to keep students engaged. I use differing materials depending on skill level and interest.
I love setting goals for my students and helping them to succeed. My students have won seats in district and regional band and orchestra competitions, play in competitive youth symphonies, and have participated in solo and ensemble recitals. I love teaching a wide range of students from those who are just looking to play for fun to students preparing for college music entrance exams. I try to keep my students very organized as I know time is precious in balance with many other extracurricular activities.
