2018 - Berklee College of Music, Guitar Department Achievement award 2017 - Berklee College of Music, Pro Music & Performance award
I am a highly organized and motivated professional guitarist with strong work ethics. Punctuality is one of my priorities as I mentored students who successfully passed auditions for the conservatory or private schools. I am fully qualified, with a B.M from Berklee College of Music. I have also been classically trained in a private school named the IMEP Paris College of Music, France. I am a very versatile player and teacher so I can cover any guitar styles and genres students desire to learn more about. As a performer I had the opportunity to play and tour with some of the most renowned jazz musicians in the world such as Chris Cheek, Darren Barrett and Greg Hopkins. These experiences demanded some of the highest sight-reading and improvisatory skills available in the professional world.
Throughout my teaching career, I have been driven to help students achieve their very best. I strongly believe that music has the power to change lives, to enhance the social, cultural and spiritual lives of people, and serve as a profound medium of personal expression. I always encourage my students to ask questions as it not only keep them learning but also allows the lessons to be more interactive. I have also mentored several students for conservatory and private music school auditions. Most students had no experience in at least one of the required topic for the auditions. But all students successfully passed the auditions.
The method I use for teaching is directly related to what the student desire to learn and improve in. That being said, for children and beginners, I will focused mainly on the basics such as: proper posture, proper guitar technique, basic chords, basic rhythms, warm-ups ... Once all of that is covered, my method will vary depending on the student's goals and the style where are in. But no matter what we are covering, I always tailor personal handouts and videos for my student to study once the lesson is over.
I always listen to what the student has to say and I make sure that what we are currently working on always relate to the student's goals. I also record every lesson and send them to the student right after we are done. That way the student can listen back and have all the informations that I gave during the lesson available right away. It is also very important to me that the lessons be entertaining, fun and focused as soon as possible on real music that the student wants to learn. Nothing is more thrilling to me than when we are able to play a tune together and make some actual music.
