Overview:
Hello! My name is Freddy, and I am a professional trombonist and composer from New York City. To tell you a bit about myself, I graduated Berklee College of Music with a Master's in Film Scoring ('15). I also recently finished touring with Grammy award winning artist Alejandro Sanz, and am currently working at SkyMuse Studios in Seattle, WA, under the tutelage of Ron Jones (Family Guy, Star Trek: Next Generation, DuckTales). I have also opened for Ruben Blades, Eddie Palmieri, and B.B. King while also having performed alongside Juan Luis Guerra, Laura Pausini, Bootsy Collins, Arturo O’Farrill, and Melissa Aldana.  Television appearances include The Today Show with Jesse McCartney, CNN with The Freddy Fuego X-Tet, Fox News with The Patriot Brass Ensemble, and Noturno in Brazil with The Underground Horns.
EXPERIENCE
My main focus is trying to teach students HOW to learn music, so that they can eventually create their own methodology based on what works best for them. I have eight years of experience teaching private lessons, so I understand how to craft a curriculum to an individual's needs. Working with hundreds of different musicians has taught me that everyone learns music differently: some through sight reading, others with audio recordings, others still by watching someone else do it first.  We can work on specific topics during our lessons, but I can also give you a bunch of things to review/work on during your own time. Would love to chat more about how we can move forward. Thanks for reading!
METHODS USED
It all depends on the areas of music the student would like to focus on. No matter if it's music theory, composition, or performance, my main idea is to intricately learn the about the music that interests you, learn how to apply it on your instrument, and then use your creativity to create something new. Of course, I make sure that all the bases are covered such as basic sight-reading and transcription skills, but the emphasis is on learning how to channel your imagination so that you can connect your instrument with your inner-ear.
LESSON STYLE
As much as I discuss with students what to practice, however, I think it’s more important to emphasize how to practice efficiently. The patience and focus needed to execute a song correctly is as much an exercise in meditation as it is about performing music. As I tell my students, the mind is the true instrument. Once they know what the symbols on the chart mean, where their hands have to go, and how a song is supposed to sound, they will have no trouble making music. The goal, then, is to make sure that they visualize and know exactly what they are going to play before they start playing – just like a good public speaker who uses zero filler words, makes direct eye contact, and speaks with conviction. One achieves that deliberate execution by being aware and practicing those subtleties, so my job as a teacher is to help them learn how to attain that focus. This allows them to unlearn their bad habits and create good practicing habits. After that, it’s up to them to put in the practicing hours, and find out what the music means to them.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
