I graduated from VCU in music Worked in Richmond while going to school in jazz clubs and with the Richmond Symphony. I moved to New York City where I played on countless Broadway Shows and Studio work playing commercials, Soundtracks and Movie scores as well as in countless bands, playing clubs like the China Club, CBGB"s The Bitter End and Radio City.The Shows I played while in NYC CATS, Les Miserables, Mama Mia, Miss Saigon, Jesus Christ Superstar to name a few, I played on Tony award Winning Shows such as the revival of Cabert. I was also on mant Movie Soundtracks including Cabert and Mama Mia.
My teaching experience started while in college. I have been teaching over 30 years and I teach all musical styles authentically and I teach from such methods as: Gary Chester Systems, Stick Control, Moeller Method,Tommy Igo Groove Esentials to name a few, I teach Rock, Jazz Latin Afro- cuban. Brazillian, African, Blues, R&B, Funk, etc...
As I was saying, I use methods such as the Gary Chester Systems, Tommie Igo's Groove Essentials, Frank Malibe's Afro-Cuban Rhythms for Drumset, Stick Control, Jim Chapin's Jazz.., Syncopation, Steve Gadd, and Many Others.
I approach teaching by teaching solid tecnique while simutaniously learning things that the student wants to leran. I believe in developing the ear and learning something about music theory. I also teach mallet percussion and Timpani. I have also been trained in classical percussion and composition.
