My name is Gary and teaching and performing music is my life! I have a wonderful family that loans me out for my music. My wife's name is Sandy and she works for a vet and I have three great children.
I have many years of teaching experience, from high school marching percussion lines to private percussion and guitar lessons to teaching in a public school setting. I have been a band director for concert and marching band, as well as jazz band, guitar classes, music theory and general music. I am now teaching K-8 general music classes.
I believe that students should explore all ways of learning, from traditional music notation to tablature to rote learning. Not all methods works for every student. I give all students experience in every teaching method in order to find the ways that work best for them.
I understand that sometimes life gets in the way of our musical pursuits and I am laid back and casual in my teaching approach. I believe that all students can learn, although not every student learns at the same pace. I believe that all students need time and space to grow.
Gary works well with my sin and he has lots of patients. He explains everything so that my son understands.
Very patient and gives good, easily understandable instructions. Great drum teacher and person.
