Master Degree: William Paterson University, Bachelor Degree: William Paterson University
I am an eager singer with heartfelt affection and flourishing ideas in music. I received my Bachelor of Music degree and Masters of Music degree in Jazz Studies and Performance from William Paterson University of New Jersey and studied with with great jazz masters as Bill Charlap, Pete McGuinness, Nancy Marano, Harold Mabern, Horace Arnold, and James Weidman. I have had the opportunities to perform as a soloist and a member of vocal jazz choir in different settings from duo to big band. These renditions have become my strength to entertain people’s ears and touch their hearts with my voice and to be flexible on the stages.
I have taught music school students for 4 years and private students for 10 years. I’m still working with private students and students at music school with many kind of genre including jazz, pop, k-pop, gospel, and musical theatre. My goal when teaching is to help students to catch their strong points promptly so that they can understand their power of voice. Also, I love to help them to develop their strength so that they can appear it through their singing. I have taught piano students of beginner level and help them to learn basic musical knowledge including musical terms and the way to read sheet music.
For vocal students, I would like students to let me know what they want to improve/learn through singing so that I can make individual curriculums which fit each students. If there is any specific areas which they want to learn/improve, I will help them to develop those areas. I focus not only on basic vocalization and breathing to help them sing with good sound, but also on songs which can help to improve vocal techniques. For beginner level piano students, I teach basic musical knowledge and piano skills through the Alfred book. The level of the book will be different depending on the students' playing.
I am an eager musician with the passion for mentoring students and taking their musical journey together. It is always important for students to have interest in music, so I always try to keep the balance between what students want to learn and what students should learn. I always open to share what I learn from music and singing. If there is anything I can give students musically, I would love to be given a chance to share my musical experience and impart musical knowledge to students whoever love music and singing.
