Overview:
I am a passionate musician who loves to share knowledge of music to students. I started learning guitar at age 5, and for nearly 20 years guitar has been my instrument of choice! I'm a 2 time graduate from Musicians Institute where I was awarded with a scholarship. I majored in Guitar Performance and Independent Artist. In 2015 I was accepted to perform with the schools Honors Ensemble. I became a touring session musician as well as a private instructor for music schools in Los Angeles, now I'm currently playing lead guitar for the bands: Worldwide Panic, Angeles For Sale, and 210 Suite.
EXPERIENCE
My teaching experience started while finishing my second program in college in 2016. With a career planned, I was ready to start sharing the ways of the fretboard to my students. With that, comes something thats most important, dedication. With dedication, you start a practice strategy, whether you want to memorize all the 12 major scales in all five CAGED patterns, or learn Hendrix's "Purple Haze" there must be dedication. Setting goals is very important to learning music, or your instrument, achieving is when you've finally reached what you've strived for, and challenge is when you take your goal and add some "spice" to it, whether it's playing faster, or learning the modes of the major scale. What I've found is that as a professional musician, there will always be something new to learn and share with people!
METHODS USED
My methods for teaching involve the topics I learned in my Guitar Technique course. I introduce the CAGED System. Where basic open position chords are moved around the fretboard to cover scale shapes, and arpeggios. This is a great way to map the fretboard, and provide positions to improvise on solos. With this I also blend music theory in which I call the mixture "Fretboard Theory." Theory is what we cover in scales that tell what quality they have, (Major, Minor, ETC). With this you will master the fretboard
LESSON STYLE
Teaching becomes fun when you realize you're able to speak the music language with another prodigy! it's rewarding to the teacher than music will be involved in what we do daily! It is important to start out slow, develop at your own pace, understand why the scale is what it is, why the formula makes the quality what the chord or scale is. Once this is developed you'll be able to Set, Practice and Achieve what your goals to leaning music and your instrument! As you succeed, your desire to learn and succeed again makes your practice routine fun!
