4/2011 - FSMTA (Florida State Music Teachers Association) Student Day 6/2011 - Inducted into the National Guild of Piano Teachers
I am passionate and an enthusiastic instructor who loves teaching students and sharing my love of music; the beautiful instrument of the piano. In 12/2012, I graduated from Broward College with my Associate's degree in Music. In 12/2014, I graduated from Florida Atlantic University with my Bachelor of Arts degree in Music. I have had the opportunity to perform and graduate from FSMTA (Florida State Music Teachers Association) Student Day and was inducted into the National Guild of Piano Teachers, both in 2011.
My teaching experience dates back to 8/2015. It was a friend through my father's. Since then, I have been consistently teaching in my home studio for 2 years now. Encouraging regular practice is important to produce consistent results. Although I am classically-inclined, contemporary (modern) music goes a long way in helping students to continue enjoying and learning the piano. Students will also participate in Student Day, and the National Guild of Piano Teachers, etc. Their progress and accomplishments will keep them motivated to learn. I am always looking to bring on new students to teach.
For beginning students, I start with Randal and Nancy Faber's Piano Adventure books, which includes lesson books, performance books, and theory books as well. Once the students have a grasp on the fundamentals, they will then move on to solo repertoire for their first recital performance. For adolescents to young adults, based on how they are learning with their piano teacher, I can help with the student decide what repertoire they should learn for Student Day, the National Guild of Piano Teachers, etc.
Seeing my students develop a passion for music is very rewarding. Each student progresses to their own pace; no rush whatsoever. Setting goals that they can achieve will encourage them to progress on track. Acknowledging their accomplishments will keep their desire to continue learning more. I recommend that when they practice, to have them play it for an audience, like family or friends. That way they can be comfortable playing for others because when they are put into recitals, Student Day, the National Guild of Piano Teachers, etc. they'll be able to play at ease, and at the same time, enjoy it too.
