Overview:

I love playing guitar, writing new songs, and teaching my guitar skills to those that would like to learn on how to play guitar. I believe music liberates us from being too stressed out in our daily lives. Music helps us maintain our sanity and youthfulness. On a world scale, I believe music represents an international language of love, peace, and compassion for all humanity.

EXPERIENCE

I have been a singer/songwriter for well over 35 years, and have been teaching guitar playing and music theory for over 6 years. I play for many clubs, restaurants, parties, concerts within the Coachella Valley area. I love sharing my knowaledge of guitar playing with other students, and teaching my students music theory and guitar performance.

METHODS USED

1.) I teach the (5) patterns of the major and minor pentatonic scales. 2.) I teach the (7) modal scales using in position and out of position step-patterns. 3.) I teach the (3) minor scales: Natural minor (Aeolian), Harmonic minor, and Melodic minor. 4.) I talk about the theory behind the Circle of Fifths and the relative minor chords to each major chord in the Circle of Fifths. 5.) I cover the ever so popular I-IV-V chord progression as well as other chord progressions and the use of the major, minor, diminished, and augmented chords. 6.) I, also, teach alternate guitar tunings like DADGAD andDGCGCD, made famous by guitar greats like Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin and Lindsey Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac. 7.) I will demonstrate proper guitar playing postures and proper fret board fingering techniques. 8.) I can teach the arpeggio scales for the major, minor, diminished, and augmented chords, as well as some arpeggio sweeps, a technique made famous by the likes of Frank Gambole. 9.) I can show some bi-dextral tapping technques made famous by the likes of Eddie Van Halen and Steve Vai. 10.) And last but not least, I will work with my student on any song or playing style that he/she may like to learn.

LESSON STYLE

I give my students the respect and undivided attention that they deserve so that they can learn in a peaceful and creative environment, and become a better musician. I will always make sure my students go home with handouts that will enable them to practice at home as well as in my studio.
