I have been singing and performing for over 10 years and have found so much joy and fulfillment through doing so. I have found that teaching is the best way to help others find that same kind of satisfaction and happiness in their lives. In 2013 I graduated with my masters degree in vocal performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Since then I have had the great fortune to perform on both the West and East Coasts as well as in Germany and Italy. I have taught all ages - from 5 years old to 85 years old - and loved every minute of it.
My teaching experience dates back to my college days and my first vocal pedagogy class. We were all assigned a non-singer to teach and I won't lie, I was very nervous taking on my first student. However, once we got going I fell in love with teaching and have been doing it on and off for 5 years. I do my best to maintain a positive attitude in voice lesson and strive to teach based on a solid foundation of healthy technique. Making music is fun and it is important to me that my students leave their lessons knowing that 100%. Please reach out if you have any questions, I am always excited and eager to talk with students of all ages!
For those students (both children and adults) who are just beginning lessons, we will focus on the development of basic technique. This is centered around breathing, posture, and basic musicianship. We will spend time working on basic notes, rhythms, and ear-training in addition to vocalizing and learning songs to help develop and reinforce what we learn in our exercises. For those with a bit of experience I like to spend our first lesson getting acquainted and determining what your goals are for our lessons. I like to spend time assessing where you are with your understanding of technique and how I can help you find your unique voice. We continue to build on solid breath support and begin moving in to training the smaller muscles to create a supported but free vocal sound which can be applied to any genre of music.
When I was a college student teaching is not something I ever thought I would enjoy, however, I could not have been more wrong. Through out my musical career teaching is something that I have genuinely fallen in love with. Every person has their own unique voice and it is truly a joy to help someone discover that voice and show them how amazing music making can be. I pride myself on keeping every lesson joyful and reinforcing technique through positivity. My style comes back to the student and making sure that each person is treated as the unique musician that they are.
