Holding a PhD in Voice Literature and over 30 years experience of playing the piano as a professional, I can teach several vocal and musical styles. My lessons are custom-tailored to every student, their level of talent, their ambition and their idea of what they want to be and accomplish in their studies. When you study in my studio, there are no apologies, just acceptance of where you are at, and what you wish to accomplish. I am forever committed to demonstrating my passion for music and music education. You will also learn about yourself and life in general, when under my auspices. You will work, but also have fun. enjoy and be proud of your accomplishments: guaranteed!
My voice and piano studio teaching had it genesis in 1985 with a private home studio in Chicago. Since then, I have taught in church programs (choral students working on solo voice) as well as in the university setting (student teaching and TA voice class support). I have also led seminars in Group Voice and Cantor Training for Church and Liturgy and Worship. Wherever you are at, we accept, as a dual-team, and then, collectively design a way to help you achieve what it is you desire. My studio is a safe, comfortable and fun environment in which you can be yourself and explore your path to Musical Nirvana. I am here to help you achieve that....!
Michael Aaron Piano Courses for children and adults had usually proven a good start for piano lessons. Sometimes, a student will need something other than a method book: I will then personally design a program for them based on the way in which they assimilate information and translate that into musical understanding and technique. It is normally a combination of internet information and my personal compositions.
For voice, I use no specific published method course. I begin with classical technique (required for all singing): posture, breathing, pitch, eliminating tensions areas, perfecting legato, lyric diction (sometimes foreign languages). From classical technique, we will branch into other styles as needed (Musical Theatre, Jazz, Pop, Folk, etc.). I keep lessons engaging, informative and enjoyable, after all it is the student's education.
Music is my life, my passion: I constantly maintain my demonstration of this, in my manner, my teaching, my performance. This, I find, is infectious to all who cross my path. I also maintain an attitude of gratitude for my talent, and my parents' love, support and encouragement of my music. By them placing me into lessons at the age of 6 (accordion!), along with my drive and dedication and high level of musical education, I am a full-time musician, performer, and music educator. By demonstrating and instilling all this into my students, I have the opportunity to prolong that which is my Life: Music!
