Greetings, I am Gladstone, I’m a very passionate and detailed oriented instructor who loves working with students and loves seeing the growth taking place among them when it comes to music, I obtained my music degree from Florida A&M university served with the US Army bands traveled the world with drumline live, toured with Flor-Rida, and performed at Beyoncé’s Coachella. Music had always held a special place in my heart and I am more excited and ready to Share my knowledge with you all
My teaching experience began in college as an arranger, and in assisting staff at Rickards high school in Tallahassee I later became the percussion instructor at Deerfield beach high school, and the brass director at Miami carol city senior high, I am currently the assistant band director, and assistant conductor at Miramar high school. All my students have gone on to obtain partial and full music scholarships to prestigious universities. The greatest reward is seeing a student in the same position I was in years ago as a professional.
For beginners I Use the essential elements book For intermediate students I use the Rubank intermediate method And for my advanced students I use the Abrans and Clarke method. With each lesson my goal is to the student learn a scale per lesson and a rudiment per lesson, we will also dig into the different styles and genres surrounding that specific instrument, and encourage the student to try new techniques. I feel with each lesson the student will grow and learn more and not only a better musician but a better person as well
I always enjoy seeing the light bulb moment my students get when they get something right, and learn something new. My teaching method is a simple stacking method we start with a lesson, I try to find where the student may struggle most and spend time with that. Then we move forward, but revisit the lesson prior for continuity. Lip slurs, scales and fundamentals for the brass players and rudiments, speed and handing techniques for all percussionists the practice and teaching regiment is simple yet effective.
