Count College of Morris, music
I am excited about sharing my guitar playing knowledge with students of all levels. I have written 4 guitar instruction books for use in lessons. I am also a songwriter of over 100 youtube videos. My home studio has recording capabilities. I can also teaching songwriting and digital recording. I love to teach acoustic fingerstyle, electric blues, slide guitar, folk and rock guitar. I have performed in coffee houses, concerts and on live radio. I have 9 albums of original music. I have also written soundtrack music for Montclair University.
I have been teaching guitar for more than 25 years. I have taught private lessons as well group lessons. Some of my greatest successes have been with handicapped students. I always encourage patience and having a belief in themselves. Since i teach all styles of music, I try to help the student find the music he or she wants to learn and then we go for it. This then helps them to have fun with what they are playing and it brings me as teacher great joy. I encourage regular practice, discipline and good learning habits.
My style is patient and encouraging. For beginning students I use Mel Bay Guitar Book 1 for standard notation reading along with my book Fret Board Explorers which has finger strengthening drills, and various picking exercises. Along the way I introduce basic chords teaching the correct fingering. In addition to that I introduce scales, arpeggios and chord inversions. As the student progresses we move toward each students favorite music. I am versatile, i can teach classical, folk, rock and blues.
I have great personal joy when i see my students succeed in music they want to play. I will prepare each students lessons based on their learning ability, personality, age, interests and available time to practice. I will help them get organized and disciplined. I will keep them challenged with what they can accomplish and guard them from being frustrated with assignments that are too difficult. The ultimate goal is for the student feel a great sense of achievement in their musical goals and learning ability.
