Hi. I am a fun loving inspiring music teacher. I customize all my lessons to make a perfect fit for you. I teach all styles but have a strong background in Christian Worship music. I love working with people & helping them find joy in learning music. I was trained in classical music & I believe music theory is a foundational building block to learning all music styles. I have taught lots of children & adults over the years & I find great joy in seeing people discover they too can have a love of music.
I started playing piano when I was 4 years old & immediately fell in love. I started taking lessons at a very young age & discovered my passion in music. I started teaching music at a private Christian school when I was 21. Then I went on to record my first cd with one of Christian music’s top music producers. I have taught private piano & voice lessons for over 20 years & absolutely love connecting to people through my love of music. I have led worship & been on staff at several churches as the worship leader which has been a great joy.
I customize all my lessons to meet the unique needs of my students. I tap into what they want to learn & plan my lessons in accordance with that vision. I believe students need to have a strong understanding of theory & reading notes as they are the foundation to learning any type/style of music. I use many different types of books & materials taylor made to help my students succeed. I love finding a special piece of music my students love & help them learn it! Seeing the joy on their face when they accomplish it is so wonderful!
My teaching style is to connect with each student & see what inspires them the most and build on that. I like to find their unique gifts & help them develop in that specific area. I like to encourage them in their unique abilities. I believe music should be fun so I always try to tap into their particular interests & build from that. I believe I have a unique teaching style that is a blend of learning the essentials of music but finding ways to make it inspirational & creative at the same time.
