2012 - Performed at One Young World summit in Pittsburgh, PA
I am an eager and motivated guitar instructor who loves teaching and sharing my knowledge and passion of music. This past spring, I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music. Throughout school, I performed with Pitt's Carpathian Ensemble that explored eastern European styles and tonalities. In addition, I performed with Carnegie Mellon University's Guitar Chamber Ensemble that consisted of all classical guitars that performs arrangements of classical and contemporary pieces. This ensemble also motivated me to become a solo performer.
My experience as an instructor is relatively recent considering I just graduated from college. For the past few years as an undergraduate, I taught private lessons from home. I am eager about encouraging regular practice to gain more ability and achieve greater passion for the guitar. Performing concerts and composing songs is recommended to help students become the musician they want to be. I am always searching to instruct new students of all ages!
I typically recommend that all beginner students start with Hal Leonard's guitar method books to learn the essential notes, chords, scales, styles, and music theory. After a student becomes comfortable with the basics, I begin diving into what styles or genres the student enjoys or favors. Tailoring lessons for each individual student is very important to my teaching.
I am open to whatever a student seeks to learn through guitar lessons. The more attention I give to a student's interests, the more motivation I see in their abilities. I feel that giving students goals helps them learn at an increasingly consistent rate.
