I’m a hard working music teacher with 3 kids! I have been teaching music in the public schools for 8 years and doing private lessons for about 10 years.I graduated with my Bachelors in music from the University of Mount Olive. I graduated with my Masters in music from Anderson University.. I was in multiple singing groups in high school but my favorite was a show choir where we traveled and performed. In college, I was a scholarship student of a vocal ensemble that also traveled at sang and various venues.
I have always loved teaching and wanted to be a teacher since I eas a little girl. Teaching is fun and learning should be too! I love to sing and play piano and can’t wait to help you learn as well. I have been teaching private lessons for Over ten years for ages 6-60! I can help you prepare for performances or events or just help you learn the basics and more about your instrument. I can’t wait to explore your voice or your instrument more with you! I’m so excited to meet you! Can’t wait to hear from you!
For beginner students or children, I typically start with bastien piano basic books and work our way through the books and fundamentals of music. Once they are ready, I will begin to introduce music they are more interested in and prepare for recitals or performance. For adults, I tend to gauge their interest levels and see what they want to accomplish through their lessons. Their learning is a little more dependent upon what they want to learn and accomplish in their time with me. For singers, I do about the same thing except we use various books depending on your voice style.
I love to see my students succeed. I encourage realistic goals depending upon each students talents. I also like to work towards performances or recitals. I like to use whatever inspires the student to help me tailor my teaching to their wants. I also love to acknowledge my students when they succeed. I am very passionate about music and love for my students to be passionate as well. Sometimes my techniques can seem a little silly at first but once you are out of your comfort zone is when I tend to see the most growth
