My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time 5 years ago, and have been consistently teaching students in my home studio and remotely for the last 5 years. I started to teach speech level voice production with a wide range of styles including pop, rnb, world music. While at Berklee, I worked as a lab monitor which included responsibilities such as helping students with their music production assignments. Soon I started to teach sound design and audio production privately as well. I also have been teaching music in elementary schools part time since last year.
For singing lessons, I teach speech level voice production. We do scales and exercises to support the technical skills, and develop covers or original songs. We explore different styles if desired and can also record songs, which allows us to analyze each tapes and learn through listening to our own performance. I can also include music theory in the curriculum. For music production, I tutor in Ableton, Logic or Garageband. I can help you implement audio technology in songwriting, production, sound design and live performance.
It is really rewarding when I see my students develop their passion for music and reach their goals. I tailor my teaching style to my students’ wants and needs and I let each student progress at their own pace. I also think it’s really important to set realistic goals, because acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a student’s desire to progress. I focus on technique just as much as developing artistic expression. I aim to help my students articulate their ideas in music, whether it’s singing, songwriting, or music production.
