Bachelor of Muisic in Vocal Performance from Abilene Christian University, Master of Music in Vocal Performance and Doctorate of Music in Vocal Performance with Opera Emphasis from University of Texas at Austin.
I have been singing all of my life and know how important my many amazing voice teachers have been to me. I have enjoyed performing in operas, recitals, concerts, and church programs for almost 25 years and teaching voice for almost 20 years. I have taught students in their homes and at programs through universities and now that I have relocated to Hampton Roads, I look forward to continuing my commitment to vocal education.
I have been teaching voice since I was an undergraduate student, and now, almost 20 years later, I have a Doctorate in Vocal Performance and experience teaching private students ages 7 to senior citizen. I have taught every level of student, from beginning to professional, in a variety of styles, including pop, folk, musical theater, and opera.
I am a firm believer that anyone who wants to improve their singing, to go forward from whatever level they are currently at, can do so if they take the first step to start studying with a voice teacher. It can seem daunting at first, but through the use of a variety of vocal exercises and the use of songs in whatever style of music you are interested in singing, you can start the process of gaining new tools and habits to increase your singing skills.
Because the lessons are one-on-one, we will start where you are now, and tailor your lessons to your individual skills and goals. Singing is fun, and even more so as you master the building blocks of vocal technique!
