BM, Berklee College of Music
BEST (Berklee Entering Student Talent)
I've been playing music since the age of 7. Classically trained in Guitar and Cello, I continued focusing on the guitar when I receieved a scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music. The last 19 years of my life has been nothing but excitment from sharing the stage with national acts, playing music festivals to recording with a grammy writer. Since early 2000, I have been an active guitar instructor in Denver where I currently reside. I love working with students of all age and levels. Nothing excites me more than seeing my students musical accomplishment.
I had my first student when I was in middle school (around 1993). Jumping forward a few years later, I started teaching again around 1998 while attending Bekrlee College of Music. At that time I was only teaching partime but quickly escalated to fulltime once I graduated in 2001. At my peak, I was teaching between 40-45 students weekly. I currently have 30 students of all ages and levels. I cover several styles depending on the students interests.
My lessons are all customized to the students specification. I usually spend the first few lessons trying to gauge the student interest in style(s), their strengths and weaknesses. After that, I formulate a lesson plan that will target key spots.
I follow a fairly simple teaching philosophy: Work and Play! I like to divide my lesson time into two segments. The first segment will be strictly technical studies and exercies (eg. scales, drills, theory, etc..) related to the piece I'll be teaching in the second segment of the lesson.
