I have more than 30 years teaching violin , I am passionate, ongoing and easy way person , but I like overall do a very Good job teaching my students .I am a Cuban musician , and that is the reason I can teach you Salsa, son and different caribbeans styles.I have been playing in a Symphony Orchestra for more than 30 years too, and 20 as a CONCERMASTER.As a soloist I played the most difficult pieces in my performances, in Cuba, Spain, Brasil, Austria, etc.I love learning FIDDLE!!! and the OLD STYLE of american music.
My teaching experience is from some years ago more than 30 , because I started teaching music and violin in general since i was 18 years old, and was incredible , my students were profesional musicians but needed some first reading skills and i had to teach people older than me!! Inmediatly at the same age I was focused more in violin and piano teaching skills. As a teacher I have to encourage the daily practice and respect for the instrument, music and teacher. But i am an easy going people and I know how to motivate different characters or personalities, our environment has to be fun and at the same time respectul.
For beguiner I like to start the with Essential Elements for Strings , a comprehensive string method by Michael Allen, Robert Gillespie Pamela Tellejohn , Afterthat book I combine Suzuki books 1, 2, 3 Studios Wolfarht, some Russian methods,(I have learned with most of them) Some scales books Grigorian, etc. for more advanced student i use to teache with Mazas, Kreutzer, Fiorillo, Rode, Dont, studios, and I combine the lessons focused in the princeipal golas for right or left hands.I like to start with left hands, focused in the fingrs positions and distances between each and other, entonation,at first in pizzicatto style, and then the bowl and the right hand.
I love teaching the violin!!, my emphasys is in the real true and with love every thing. There are many ways to teach an instrument, one of them is from the perspective of visual memory, or I know, there are teachers who demonstrate first and then the student tries to imitate what he hears and sees There are also others who speak and ask for what they want without demonstrating anything, because obviously they are no longer at the level playing or because they have a condition in their hands or fingers, and they get things by speaking, making themselves understood by the word. And there are other teachers who combine the two forms, teaching, and I am one of those, I demonstrate a little, talk a little, etc, and the class has to be enjoyable, especially depending on the age of the student, a student of 4, 5, 6 or 7 years old does not have the same concentration time as older adults.
I cannot recommend enough this excellent teacher! Irina taught me for over 10 years until I graduated! She taught me violin, but also all the music fundamentals, music theory, music reading, writing, music history and harmony. As part of our regular lessons she introduced me to classical music, but also popular styles and helped me develop my ear training skills, which allows me to play any song by ear today! Irina designs very interesting and fun lessons, directed to the student needs. That considerably helps keeping up with motivation to practice and builds up love for playing. Her lessons are very thorough and definitely would be a good fit whether you would like to learn for fun or take your musical career to the next level. I took lessons from Irina in-person only. However, my little one (7yo) takes lessons from her online and the classes are as good and effective! Irina keeps the kid engaged and happy :) If you are looking for an excellent teacher with lots of experience, then Irina will be that person! Either with in-person or online lessons she will definitely teach you the unique skill of playing the violin :)
