Leaning towards Pop/R&B/Soul/Jazz, I'm an active performer in New York and Boston area. I'm very passionate and open minded about music and the asthetic and spreading the knowledge is my number one goal. Besides performing, teaching is the way to share and make music more available to the world. I graduated from Berklee College of Music with two Degrees in Voice Performance and Contemporary Writing and Production. I've performed in different part of the globe and tour around South East Asia, Europe and America with my music and also as a background singer for artists.
I've given lessons when I was back in Malaysia for two years before coming to Boston. I've taught childrens and teenagers mostly. I'm a very dedicate person and I am commited to my role as a teacher. My passion in spreading and sharing knowledge and experiences are one of my strength. I always wants the best for my students and by giving them new music and let them explore the possibilities will help them build their interest and keep on going. I believe that we can speak through music and through singing it's important to undrstand and feel it and that way the deliverance will be honest.
For children, it is important to know the fundamental (produce sound, pitch, breathing, etc) and it has to be FUN! I start off with the book Singing Lessons for Little Singers and when start introducing songs as the student progress. For adults, it's best to know what each students want and need and I'll walk them according to their needs. Techniques and repertoire comes hand in hand and I like to have a balance of both. I want to create an environment where the students will be learning what they want to learn balanced out with what they need to learn. Lesson should be fun!
I want my students to achieve what they're looking for besides learning something new. From my experience, every time I learn a new thing I get excited and that's how I want my students to feel, EXCITED. That way the lessons get more interesting each time and they would wanna get more out of it. And the best part is, the improvement portion of it. Expanding knowlege and skills do make them feel like it's worth it, so I acknowledge every improvements and will always guide them towards it. I will always work with a goal, short term or long term. That will help them see the bigger picture.
