I am Passionate and dedicated Instructor who is determined to meet the needs of every young artist I come across. In 2019 I graduated from Performing Arts with my vocal degree in classical musical. Went to Villa Maria for three years to study Music Performance and will be finishing my last year at SUNY Fredonia with Bachelors in Music Performance Minoring in Jazz. I’ve played all over my home in Buffalo Ny, playing with some of the greatest musicians such as Jerry Livingston who was the former bass player for Rick James, Cal Palmer, Toney Rhodes and so many more!!
I started teaching a year ago with mainly students who were beginners or advanced beginners! It was definitely a challenge at first due to the fact I was never taught how to teach. So I did my research and found different strategies on how to teach and after that it became very simple! As time went on, I discovered that my approach was very aggressive and unclear! Especially with the very young ones. So in order for me to not make the same mistake twice I had to seeking out more professional which helped me a lot better!
I try my best to make sure that in the process of learn about the instrument, we also have fun as well. Working on rudiments, placement, keeping time, different grooves, active listening, dynamics are all important things that I love to start off with! When people think “Learning the Basics”, they think of the most boring and not fun things. Learning the basics is an excellent way of growing into a great musician! Without it, you will be very confused when it’s time to perform. Never underestimate starting at ground zero!
A lot of teachers that I have dealt with were very rude, and terrible at teaching. My approach is more so trying to build a stable foundation and give the necessary tools to become a great musician! I not only teach you how to play the drums and how to hold the sticks etc, but I also teach how to get gigs, how to get people to notice you, what it means to have your own rider, how to promote your own brand etc. Talking about these type of things will help you get a better understanding to what it really means to be a musician.
