Overview:

I love singing! I feel so lucky to have performed for some of the greatest singers of our time: Renée Elise Goldsberry (Broadway), Jennifer Rowley (Metropolitan Opera), Kristine Opolais (Met), Ailyn Peréz (Met), and Lisette Oropesa (Met). I have also performed in venues and companies all over the world: Thailand, Hawaii, Italy, and Austria. My goal as a teacher is to share what I have learned from the best of the best and from around the globe to help ALL my students reach their full potential and thrive as a musician.

EXPERIENCE

Jaime W is a sought-after vocalist, director, and private instructor. She specializes in vocal technique and artistry for intermediate and advanced singers. Ms. Jaime served as the Vocal Teaching Artist for the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra where she conducted the 10th anniversary concert alongside the esteemed Marin Alsop. She also has served as voice faculty for studios across the country including the Athens Community Music School where she taught voice to non-majors for academic credit and at Sing Omaha Studios where she teaches voice and piano lessons to all levels of performers. She has also directed at the undergraduate and graduate level for the University of Georgia’s Opera Scenes programs. Currently, she is the Artistic and Musical Director for Capitol City Theater Company where she utilizes her aptitude for musical theatre, movement, and story-telling.

METHODS USED

Jaime’s vocal instruction has an emphasis on the creative and critical pedagogical methods as she works to create spaces that nurture student agency, reflection, and critical thinking. She aims to create a space of welcome and safety while empowering student voices and student leadership. In one on one instruction, she teaches her students not only how to set goals and achieve them, but uncover the skills they need to develop in their musical pursuits, individually. Jaime believes in helping singers uncover more about their voice, whether they are are current professional singer or a new learner.

LESSON STYLE

"I believe that good singing should involve free, released, and healthy vocal production. I always meet my students where they are at in their musical journey. My favorite part about singing is that the learning is NEVER over. This helps new learners feel they aren't alone and helps professionals continue to delve deeper into their technique and artistry. Whatever your goals may be, I am here to help you achieve them. I have worked with beginner students, looking to learn more about their voice and what it can do. I have worked with students that are at the height of the professional singing career and I have helped them refine and nuance their audition package. I have helped singers work on their own musical compositions for an upcoming indie/pop/and/or R&B album release. My job is to help you reach your goals, and I'm so excited to listen to your voice grow!"

Jaime has been such a great teacher! As a beginner, I was nervous about taking singing lessons, but Jaime has been so patient and encouraging with me throughout the process. She challenges me in constructive ways during lessons and helps me learn tools that I can apply in practice on my own. Highly recommend!

I've been taking lessons with Jaime for over a year now and I have nothing but good things to say. Not only has my voice improved tenfold in that time, I have truly enjoyed it. Jaime teaches with the perfect mix of kind support and pressure to improve, and I've been so happy with how she's embraced my genre of interest and even gone out of her way to learn more about it and bring in new exercises and pieces for us to work on that fit my interests. I highly recommend anyone, beginner to advanced, take lessons with Jaime if they want to improve and work in an environment that is supportive and open.
