I love to play old style blues and folk along with 60’s rock n roll. I also love 90’s alternative music. If you’re a hippie at heart or just looking to learn how To play your favorite songs, lets get started! I’ve played a lot from metal to classical all through my teenage years. From grunge metal bands to folk acoustic jams I’ve covered a lot of ground over the years. I’m versatile so what you’re looking for can shape the way we approach your learning how to play the instrument, just let me know what direction you’d like to take and Away we’ll go.
This would be my first professional setting teaching. I’ve taught friends before but this is new to me. I think of teaching as a learning experience for both parties in that I get to go over my fundamentals and at the same time get to see someone else benefit from it. Teaching in general is extremely rewarding that way, watching thr student pick up after the teaching. Its a pleasure for both the teacher and the sudent. I’m just filling up space now to get the minimum number of characters required.
I start with where you’re at and having a general idea of where you’d like to end up. Starting with a framework i like to think of teaching like building a house. What is the foundation of what you’re looking for? And go from there. If anything having to do with folk or blues I wiuld start with the pentatonic scale. All things blues stem from this scale in one way or another. It wont take very long to catch on to this concept nor will it take long to learn a blues or standard folk song. They’re all quite similar.
Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. Every student learns differently.
