I am a patient and organized piano teacher with a Bachelor's degree in General Music studies from Cal State San Bernardino. I have earned my Bachelor's in June of 2014. I have taught private piano lessons for three years at my own home, student's homes and in several studios. At my home studio, I have a baby grand and an electric upright. I have studied classical and jazz music as well as theory. I am very passionate about classical music and movie scores.
My private teaching began in the summer of 2007. I started with two students and have continued to teach every summer since. Once I graduated from Cal State San Bernardino in June of 2014, I have taught year-round. Most of my students are beginners, and it can be rewarding when I see how much they have improved over the months. With my more advanced students, I make sure that they stay interested in their instrument and ask them what they are interested in playing, as well as provide challenging pieces. I have taught students ranging from the ages of 4 to 60. I am willing to teach anyone who is eager to learn.
When I have a beginning student, I provide for them a basic lesson book that includes fun songs and introduction to theory. Each week I go over a song or two with the student and have them play for me the song or songs for their next week's lesson. If the student performs the piece well, they are rewarded with a sticker and can move on. For my more advanced students, I ask them what kind of music they are interested in and they play for me songs from their favorite movie or artist. I also provide lesson books for them, as it is important to keep up with theory.
For each of my student's lessons, I have them play for me their pieces from the lesson book and their scales and arpeggios. At the end of the lesson, I take a few notes for the student so they know what to focus on or fix for their pieces, as well as keep track of which key they are working on for their scales. I love to see my students improve and gain a passion for their instrument. I love to keep them organized each week because there is a lot to learn.
