Overview:
I am young, zealous musician who loves experiencing music with others, whether it be on stage or in a classroom.  I graduated from Howard University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Music in Muisc Business, with a minor in Jazz Trumpet.  I am now finishing my master's degree at Rutgers Univesity.  As a musician, I've had the opportunity to travel the world and meet some amazing people.
EXPERIENCE
My experiences as a teacher have been vital to my growth as a musician and a person for the past few years.  Upon my start of graduate school, I began teaching in the place of a local New Jersey trumpeter who was busy out of the country.  Each student had their own unique personality and skills, ranging in age from 9 to 17.  This opportunity also allowed me to work with special needs students.  Outside of a trumpet studio, I have taught marching band and music business to high school students through a non-profit company known as The Musicainship.  This program focuses on the musical enrichment of the lives of local at risk youth.
METHODS USED
For young beginners, I start off with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements, as they are probably already working in this book if they are in bad at school.  Outside of that, I'll typically incorporate key beginning excercises from the Arban's Book to help develop the students sound and chops.  This was how my first teacher taught me, and I found his methods extremely helpful in my early years.  Once they're fundamentals are developed, I will begin to work on the students first recital.  As for adults, I customize the lesson depending on their interest and skill level.  However, technique building is the foundation of each lesson.
LESSON STYLE
At the end of the day, music is about making a statement.  With that said, I believe that the best results occur when the student is happy with their growth.  If a student is having fun, they are more likely to not only practice, but perform with conviction.  To achieve this, I do my best to make sure the student develops a musical environment that makes them the most comfortable.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
