I am a lifelong musician and educator and am excited to share my passion with those eager to learn and have fun. From 2014-2018 I acted as studio manager as well as an instructor for a school of music. During this time, I received my BA degree concentrated on education, music, and world languages. From 2018-2020, I taught language courses at the University of Arkansas while continuing to teach as many music students as I could. I received my MA degree in May 2020 and the past year I have acted as an instructor for a private academy as both a language and music instructor. I have recently moved to the Boston area and am working on my Massachusetts Teaching License while I continue providing professional music instruction.
I began learning violin when I was 10 years old through school as well as receiving private lessons. I played first violin in my school orchestra until I graduated in 2014. I also began learning guitar and ukulele when I was 12 through professional lessons as well. Since 2014, I have had experience teaching both groups and private sessions, teaching in-home/studio/online, and have worked with people of various ages and backgrounds. I have also played guitar in a few band/stage performances. I maintain a healthy practice routine that I emphasize with my students and am I always trying to learn and inspire new things.
I really focus on offering differentiated instruction and understand the importance of being able to adapt student to student. I typically do break our sessions up into focused segments in my lesson plans. I ensure that we cover music theory, rhythm exercises, improvising, and more. As far as practice material goes, I begin most with simple sheet music and some print-outs, however, we will expand into books, recording, and writing your own music. I also like to teach things like instrument care and maintenance like cleaning, changing strings, etc.
I want my students to have fun and be able to be inspired to learn and create. I know that everyone learns their way and I do believe myself accommodating and understanding. Learning to read, write, and play music is essentially learning another language and having taught languages for several years, I know people move at different paces. I encourage my students to maintain a detailed practice log, and to explore and create during daily practices whilst also working towards goals established during our sessions.
We had a hard time finding a music teacher for my daughter, she’s introverted. When we met jarek, he did well with her for over 4 years and she’s able to print off music sheets and play them on her own! Jarek is great with kids and very patient. I would highly recommend jarek!
Jarek is an amazing music teacher! He taught my son both guitar and violin for 5 years. He came into our home for three of those years and we just grew to love him. My son really enjoyed their time together because often they would improvise and have fun making up their own music. He also taught my son the basics of music theory and worked through classical pieces. He is very adaptable to your child’s needs. I highly recommend him. You love found a true gem of a teacher if you hire him.
Jarek taught our daughter violin and guitar lessons for seven years and I HIGHLY recommend him! He’s knowledgeable, patient, and did a great job at picking challenging music that kept her interest. He can teach numerous instruments and is excellent with kids!
