I am a passionate and incredibly driven instructor who thoroughly enjoys sharing his love and knowledge for music with everyone he can. I have been playing guitar for seven and a half years and am also comfortable with bass guitar and vocals. I am well versed in a wide range of topics from music theory to composition to improv, as well as modern guitar techniques; such as sweep picking, hybrid picking, thumping and more. I have much experience playing live as well, mostly with my band Gone Before Us, where we have released music on all streaming services and have an EP coming out later this month. I look forward to working with anyone who is interested :)
My strength in teaching comes from my professional experience playing and organizing my own practice routine. I took lessons years ago where I learned the importance of theory and a consistent practice schedule. I believe it is best to focus on one particular style and to achieve mastery, 4-5 hours a day of good practice will get you playing professionally in no time. Music has taught me many things, but one of the most important is discipline. Throughout my curriculum you will learn many things, but I hope you find your own sound through everything I am able to show you.
For students who are completely new to guitar, I show them some basic chords, then we find a song they enjoy that utilizes these shapes and we learn it. From there we begin to learn some simple riffs and scales. If they have more experience, I like to show them a practical way to implement music theory into what they already know. If they are already comfortable with many scales, I show them how they are all related to one another through chords and how these can help the see the fretboard in ways they would have never thought of themselves.
I take a very straightforward approach to teaching and I provide an example of what it can look like if practiced adequately. I ask my students what goals they have and formulate a curriculum based on where they want to be as a player. From there, we choose the best techniques, songs and artists to learn from. This way, students learn to really fall in love with practice and also playing and are thus encouraged to keep practicing. I always make sure to provide positive reinforcement to keep students encouraged as well.
I love my music lessons, I have learned a lot in so little time he is a great and patient teacher
