Overview:
I have played guitar since age 15. I am experienced in Jazz Band, Combo, Orchestra, studio, mixing, mastering, production, live performance, sound check, and instruction. I can read and write music and have won multiple awards. I have 3 cds. I recorded my first demo at age 16. I am a professor of criminal justice and work in asset and profit protection. I injured one of my hands doing construction on my home. I can't play pro anymore as a result, but I can still give guitar lessons something I have done in my free time. My friends have said they have heard people compare me to legends around town.
EXPERIENCE
I have taught private lessons for 15 years. I emphasize the practice makes perfect rule of thumb. I tell my students you're not studio/performance ready until you can play through a song 10 times without error. I encourage improvisation. I always say if you can count to 4 you can start learning in less than 10 minutes. I stress the importance of practicing every chance a student gets. I strongly advise recording yourself and being your own critic prior to begining a student's live performance career.
METHODS USED
With younger clients I focus on mechanics of guitar at the base level. I really focus on playing basics early on. Beyond beginner lessons at the more intermediate levels I focus on more playing by ear. For more advanced students I show them the techniques, methods, and resources to pool in order to achieve desired results. I try to make lessons fun for my clients. Lessons with me are straight foward. Students typically spend a few months with me before they are ready to go it alone. I love saying this so I will one more time. If you can count to 4 you'll know how to play in less than 10 minutes.
LESSON STYLE
I try to setup to allow students to learn at their own pace. I love seeing my students learn and reach their full potential. Finding out what motivates a student can help me customize their lessons. I acknowledge a student's progress and make lessons engaging to keep the students eager to learn. Encouraging the student to exceed their own benchmarks is a vital role I play as a instructor. Some students need additional work and practice which is fairly typical. I have not seen too many students over excel at guitar. Guitar is a difficult instrument to learn but rewarding.

Good! Teacher gives instructions up until the point student can make it on their own. Doesn't keep you coming back for filler lessons. Straight forward.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
