I have a BA in Music Education.
Graduated college Summa Cum Laude National Honor Society
I am a energetic and inspiring teacher. I have been working as a music teacher for over 10 years. I've been in many different orchestras, marching bands, and even played on a cruise ship. I have had a passion for music ever since I could sit up straight and reach the piano keys. A little known fact is my great ancestor was Joanne Sebastian Bach. So I would like to say my love for music runs deep in my veins. My tip on keeping students inspired is to give them the responsibility for their music. I show them how to make their instrument sound as good as possible as early as possible. The target they have is to focus on making a brilliant sound and I try to empower them to teach themselves – to me that is the definition of being a successful music teacher. I'm so happy teaching and performing. I want to do more of the same and want to keep improving myself. That's very much a musician's mindset.
My teaching experience started when I was in college. I always wanted perform and that led to me giving my roommates a lesson. I think practice is very important and I am very encouraging to helping students understand my love for music. It is also important to me that students have fun during their lesson. Learning an instrument can be fun it just takes the right teacher to find the students interest. I have taught kids from 3 years of age to a grandmother that is 97. Age is just a number and I believe anyone can learn.
I like to create my own lesson based on the student, finding the interest is very important. I am not a big fan of books as it tends to get boring fast. When I first started out I lost so much interest as my teacher had me do page by page lessons. I like to be creative. Yes we have to learn the fundamentals and I can teach that in a fun way. I like to teach by songs that the students knows. It keeps their interest and makes them feel excited they are learning something they always wanted to learn.
Everyone learns differently, So I can't say that i have a certain teaching style. I change my style to match the students needs. Growing up with a learning disability I learned multiple ways to over come it and love to see my accomplishments show through my students. Finding the inspiration inside the student is what is important. Setting goals and understanding the students wants and needs makes you a successful teacher. Having that passion makes me never give up on a student. Inspiration is the key to my teaching style.
Miss Jenn is the best! She knows lots of instruments and has lots of experience teaching all different ages.
Miss Jenn has taught me everything I know. I started out knowing nothing about my clarinet and now I play in the advanced group at my school. If you want to learn and love the instrument let Miss Jenn help you. She is the best and has a great outlook on music.
I have had a wonderful experience with Miss Jenn. She is so knowledgeable of all the instruments she knows. She provides fun and lessons that make me want to learn. She is so well rounded you will enjoy learning.
If you want to have a well-organized, useful, flexible and fun lesson, she can provide it with a detailed lesson review. Very professional and she provides an excellent service. She is excellent and punctual. My daughter has improved a lot and always looks forward to her lesson.
..walked me through music theory, as well as the details of the clarinet. As an adult student, I was nervous about picking up an instrument but I am now pretty confident I can learn how to play the clarinet. Thanks for the great lesson and I look forward to many more!
Jenn was awesome to work with! When I started my flute lessons with her, I told her that I had been playing saxophone for about 20 years and wanted to add another instrument to my repertoire. She used this information to help relate the flute to the saxophone in ways that helped me to learn the flute quickly with solid retention. We went through a series of instructional books because I was comfortable with how they taught the progression of notes, but Jenn also provided me with extra pieces outside of the books as challenges when she saw I was excelling at, or needed more work on, certain skills. She's very adaptable with teaching methods, and gives just the right amount of criticism to help the student keep growing without making them feel bad.
