I am a passionate and motivated instruction who loves working with students and sharing my love of music of all genres. In 2006, I graduated from The Peabody Consveratory of Music with a Bachelor of Music Degree in Vocal Performance. Performing all over the world to include the U.S. and Europe has been one of the greater experiences of my life as a musician. I have had the opportunity to perform in Europe, Switzerland, Amsterdam, New York City in some of the most beautiful theatres in the world.
My teaching experience dates back to my college days. I have held a private studio focusing on the core concepts of singing, vocal tonation and breath support since my third year in college. I help my students to find their own voice and their own sound. I don't encourage students to emulate the style of other singers but rather to find their own sound. During my tenure at Peabody I performed in various shows both on and off campus, including summers via many prestigious programs in Europe to include; Siena Session for Music & the Arts, Lake Placid Vocal Seminar and Florence Vocal Seminar. Post Peabody, I have studied under conductors both in the U.S. and abroad, and have been afforded the opportunity to perform in many beautiful theatres including Philadelphia's very own Kimmel Center.
The focus of my studio is as follows:
breath support
vocal health and safety
tonation
style
For beginning students who are children, I start with basic songs that can build upon the fundamentals listed above. I begin to introduce solo repertore when appropriate but I do not rush this process. Additionally; i take into consideration what kind of music the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly keeping lessons engaging and fun no matter the student's ability level. My lessons are fun and engaging.
Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop and hone their skills! I am extremely hands on and I listen very intently during my sessions. I have a great "ear" which is my best asset. I encourage each student to progress at his or her own pace. I encourage this by maintaining a stress free environment. Each student has goals that I help them set after the first lesson which I use as a baseline to gauge strengths and opportunities. The first half of every lesson centers on breath support and proper vocal form.
