Overview:
I am an experienced and passionate musician and educator. I have performed and conducted educational programming worldwide and have taught in public schools in New York City. Additionally, I have conducted educational workshops on the university level. I have two albums under my name on a popular independent label and more coming out soon. I have also composed music for several films. 
EXPERIENCE
I have taught all kinds of topics to all kinds of students and like to accomodate the particular interests of different students. I often find that students should set performance goals even if it is just a performance for friends and family. This helps establish workable milestones in the student's progress. I also like students to help model their own education by studying repertoire that interests them. 
METHODS USED
I start beginners off with the Rubank Elementary Method, which introduces reading, scales, arpeggios, and expressive devices such as dynamics and articulation. I also like students to start with improvisation, composition, and ear training as soon as possible. I encourage them to both work on whatever repertoire interests them and find new types of music they don't know they're interested in yet. More advanced students may progress to some of the more advanced music theory, technical etude books, and scale/arpeggio exercises. 
LESSON STYLE
I love seeing my students get better, and different things make different students improve. I like to find what that is for each individual student. For example, some are more interested in reading the notes, and others are better at learning by ear. I try to work with each student's strong points and use the strengths to work on improving the weaknesses.
