2016 Boston University 75% Scholarship 2014 Asian Youth Orchestra Full Scholarship
Hi, I'm Jia, I graduated from Boston University with a master degree in violin Performance. I am involved with many orchestra events during my master degree such as performing in Tsai Performance Center and Boston Symphony Hall. In 2013, I received the Asian Youth Orchestra Scholarship, and having tour performance over the Asia. My sincere and passionate love for music, especially violin , has prompted me to share my talents and inspire others to reach their full musical potential. I consider myself to be quite fortunate in having had the opportunities to encourage young students.
I started teaching private lessons since I was in high school, and developed personal studio which including ages from 5 up to 35. I have extensive practical experience in helping young students develop their foundational piano skills, music styles as well as creative endeavors, which have been a primary focus of my pedagogic activities. I feel that I have developed some positive strategies for creating a fun learning environment for young students, while organizing my classes to best accommodate the needs of each student.
For beginner students who are children, I typically start with Suzuki violin book. My goal is try to find the balance between fun and progress. I will give them fun book after they learn the fundamentals. After that, I would like to ask and help them to prepare their first performance. For adults, I will find out what is the music goal of them, and set a clear plan every week and make it step by step to improve themselves. I would like to teach the student how to practice and let them to feel the music.
My primary goal is to help young students develop a love and deep appreciation for music, which is accomplished through patience, instruction, encouragement and developing incremental levels for each student’s progress. I also consider myself to be excellent in teamwork projects, as I am always willing to learn from others and am very cooperative in any form of group dynamic. Furthermore, I have experience in organizing and providing guidance for as many as fifteen students. As all students are different, I try my best to use different protocols of instruction, so as to encourage students to reach their full potential.
