I am an enthusiastic, empathic and energetic person who is passionate about teaching music to people of of all ages. I have a degree in Music Education from Evangel University in Springfield, MO. I have been a Church Music Director for over 30 years and directed children's, youth and adult choirs and produced over 100 musical and dramatic presentations. I am adept at understanding the different learning styles of each individual and have had over 300 career piano students. The goal of my teaching is to develop a lifelong enjoyment of music through the mastery of graduated levels of skills and improvisation, while placing a high priority on a one-to-one relationship that promotes fun, success and high self-esteem.
I have been teaching for over 30 years - I have taught in my home studio as well as traveled to my students' home to teach lessons. I have a Music Education degree and over 30 years of teaching experience. I have over 300 career piano students. I have successfully worked with people of all ages in their pursuit of learning to play the piano and to enjoy music. What separates me from most teachers is that I understand how to decipher the learning styles of those I teach, AND I have a very caring, relational, creative and fun teaching style.
Based on my first meeting get acquainted sessions with my students, I decide what approach to take with each person. As everyone is different, I adapt my teaching to their particular personality and needs. I have a four (4) tiered approach to my lessons - there is technique development, theory, ear-training and improvisation through learning chord sets and songs in every key PLUS, of course, the playing of music. I have a very comprehensive library where a student can music of any style to supplement his or her foundational music development. My students are never bored as there is lots of variety and interest in every lesson.

I want to help as much as possible in your sons and daughters (or yours) musical development. Sometimes just a new song will provide a lift - there are so many possibilities. Also, and VERY IMPOTANT, some sort of reward system is usually very effective in keeping your son/daughters motivated. Most of us don't like to be disciplined, so, a little reward is something to look forward to for practicing regularly. It would be my privilege to work with you and your family members in giving everyone the best musical foundation and education possible.
